Mindelo Sao Vicente, Part III of IV: Carnival

Mindelo, Part III – Keeping up with the force

The night before carnival

Monday night, i.e. the night before carnival should be your “the” night at the carnival on Sao Vicente, this is the night you should be readying yourself for.  Some would tell you that this is not Carnival yet, that real Carnival is on the following day.

Mindelo Cape Verde, Part II of IV: Pre-Carnival Orgy

Mindelo, Part II – It’s a carnival, carnival – oh no!

Loved that Carnival!

Carnival in Mindelo is something else. That by the way is coming from somebody who already has been a part of 3 main Carnivals of Brazil: Rio, Salvador & Recife/Olinda. Carnival in Mindelo was by far my favorite. But (there is always a “but”) what I say doesn’t apply to the day of Carnival itself – that you can skip – but the days leading up to Carnival are just fucking amazing! Mindelo Cape Verde, Part I of IV: Warm up

The Island of São Vicente:

Mindelo, Part I  – Behave

From a tourist perspective, Praia of Santiago, Cape Verde’s capital,  there is little to look at. Better restaurants are in the mall called Praia Shopping and along Palmarejo Baixo but better music is next to Hotel Santa Maria which is right on Rua 5 de Julho, a pedestrian only street in the center of town. I sampled some restaurants on that street too but in each one I found food rather mundane. Music though… to die for.

Cape Verde an Introduction

There is little doubt that Cape Verde is a great place to meet women. If you like them black or mullato Cape Verdean women are absolutely beautiful. In many ways Cape Verde reminds me of Dominican Republic. It’s just richer (like much richer) as to sightseeing, activities and cultural diversity and much more innocent attitude-wise. Although one must say that the attitude (and even looks) change a bit (and price more than a bit) from island to island.

One Night in Tokyo Japan

Japan Part 2 of 3 – One Night in Tokyo

As with many of my previous trips to Asia, I had one night only and this visit to Tokyo in Japan was no exception. Perhaps the exception was that this would be even less than one night.   It would be a mere 10 hours to to experience some mongering in Tokyo Japanese style.
