Stag Weekend in Barcelona

I went to Barcelona first time in March 2004,  flew with Ryan Air from Stansted to Genoa which is then about a two hour coach journey to Barcelona. I went on a stag weekend with a bunch of geezers I mostly didn’t know. My friend was getting married to a local girl he had met while we were both at Goa India, two years previous.

Las Ramblas Hostel

We all stayed in a hostel for the weekend in an alley off Las Ramblas – I think it is called – big statue of Christoper Columbus at the bottom!  We arrived on the Friday evening and it was dark and had some problems finding the place.  Inside it was very basic not much better than a prison cell, I imagine.

We settled into the hostel,  I was sharing a double bed with some other guy who seemed cool.

Went in some bars down the alleys mostly with north africans in them offering cocaine etc. Relaxed in here and sunk a few beers. Well we all went out that night and ended up splitting up ending up in various nightclubs mostly around the Las Ramblas area. Tried chatting up a few younger brit girls out for the weekend too, but the usual nightclub response.

About 3am decided to head back to the hostel with the guy I was sharing the room with. While purchasing some water to take back to the hostel from a kiosk on the Las Ramblas we were approached by black street hookers. Some were really good looking. Las Ramblas Pickpockets

There were plenty of african girls down Las Ramblas at this time, but they are only there in the very early hours of the morning it seems. Some of these grab hold of you on the street and their hands are looking for a wallet in your pocket, so beware of this! A few guys the next morning said their wallets had gone missing, I knew where they had been. One of was telling a story that he fought off a couple of muggers.

I had a terrible hangover in the morning. That day we take a walk down the beach and just relax and chill out in a few bars and watch the day go by.

Las Ramblas Strip Clubs

The next night we just went to a few strip joints and sex clubs again off the Las Ramblas, not bad entertainment – the girls were mostly Russian I think in here. But I was happy to just sit and watch tonight a few of the Russian strippers were cute and you could take the girls to a private room.

That night the guy im sharing the bed with, decided to put his arms around me. I had to wake him up. We all laughed about it the next morning. At the wedding, I tell his girlfriend about it. I say lucky he was not horny! She replied Oh there is very little chance of that. Little did she know that he liked to be sucked off in the car park by a black street hooker. Its a funny world!

Saw very few of the local talent Spanish I mean! Did not really do any research of this place before going – but i did enjoy it there. An enjoyable weekend with some unexpected mongering action.
